Sorry to see you go

I am really dissapointed and angry to hear that you will not be in Dingle this Season, you will be a great loss to the community. The dive centre in Dingle was something which gave that extra edge to holidays in the area. I always found you guys professional corteous and fun ….remember An Teareacht…the 4 brothers and many more. It is really frustraing that an agreement could not be reached to secure your future in Dingle. Diving apart, your efforts to raise marine awarness in the community were badly needed, comendable and showed a true community spirit.

Sorry to hear

Neal and Jaquie, Hi, hope you've both had a great winter diving in much warmer places than here!I've just read about the closure of the dive shop... its awful what they've done, dingle and all it's divers will be missing out. I really don't know what they'r thinking - it just seems ridiculous, you've done so much for the area both with diving tourism and local ecology. I really want to thank you for all the amazing dives you taken me on, you've taught me everything I know, taking me from a complete beginner to a little bit more than a complete beginner! (yes I know it would help if I dived between each summer). Diving just wont be the same without you and i don't know what we'll do when we're in Dingle now.

Diving in Dingle

Dear Jacquie, i visited your base in oct. 03. It was my first dive in the Irish Sea and since that day i am telling everyone about the beauty of this place. I really enjoyed diving with you. Now i finally do have the time to come back for diving.I hope you can imagine how sad i was when i discovered that you close your dive center. I hope very much that the landlord changes his mind.

Sad news

I am very sorry to hear the news that you will not be in Dingle again this year. It seems you really got the run around from the Dingle Marina board.I would like to say that I believe you ran a very professional operation and personally I enjoyed all the great dives and your friendly and open attitude. Hopefully you won't think to badly of Dingle and perhaps we will see you out on the water (or under it) some time in the further. Best of luck and enjoy your travels.

Can't believe it

We tried getting a date in the calendar last year to dive with yourselves and wanted to do the Baskin Sharks in June....now you guys are gone!! My father in-Law is from Dingle and we enjoy a beautiful holiday home there now. So we are down quite a few times. I am so sorry that the greed of what is a wonderful little town has pushed you aside. All the best for the future, hope you do get up and running again as I only heard good things and Jacquie was always really nice on the phone..

You're where...?

Really looking forward to some diving in Dingle at easter - really... but at the moment we are enjoying a balmy 22 deg underwater in sunny Cabo Verde. CV is a group of islands off Senegal, west Africa - relatively unexplored divewise. If a dive centre owner can name individual British & Irish divers he has met over the last few years you know you're breaking ground a little. The dives so far have been excellent on Sal. Unfortunately we were unlucky in Boa Vista where the centre's boat was out of the water. On now to San Vicente and Santo Antao in the north, much greener and more mountainous than the other islands. Highly recommend a trip here if you like adventure, dogs and not eating very often (for vegetarians!)

More comments

"Hi Jacquie & Neal,
I am absolutely appalled to learn of your situation regarding the dive centre. Your dive centre was one of the best I have ever visited, and I for one will not be interested in diving at the centre under any other management.

Those short minded fools should be ashamed of themselves, and it is precisely that kind of short minded, small town ignorance that will see the locals ruin their most valuable assets. You are of key importance both from a dive tourism and ecological awareness point of view, and if they do not appreciate this loss, they don’t deserve to have you working on behalf of the community and the local environment."

Congrats to Della

Della has just won the Rolex Our World Underwater Scholarship. This prestigious award will mean that for a whole year Della will roam the world diving, doing courses, meeting people and generally making us all green with envy. She is also likely to come back far more qualified than all of us put together! A big well done from all of us.

Thanks for your support

If you emailed us with messages of support, thanks a lot, we really appreciate it. It also makes us really sad that we won't be seeing you at the dive centre this year, gonna miss it... Here are a few extracts from emails we received (mostly from Irish divers in case you take offence at some of the comments)

"I cant believe this. Contact the local TD and put this to them about the non profit project. This is just f typical Irish crap!!This is more than sad news. The media must hear of this!"

"go to your local td and tell him what those ***holes are doing you are doing them a service educating people about scubadiving and bringing in money and they wanna put you out of business its typical irish "

"As for you guys leaving..devastated, Can't imagine what I'll do if there is no diving this summer in Dingle."

"It's a shame.......I think the Dingle Marina Committee should be strung up."

"That is sad and annoying news, not just for you both but for all Irish and international divers who have enjoyed diving with you. Frankly, the often short-sighted nature of small-town Ireland makes me feel shamed for your shabby treatment."

"We are so sorry to hear the news that you are not in Dingle again this year. It seems you have had a raw deal there with the Harbour board. We wanted to let you know that you will be missed in Dingle and the surrounding area "

"Christ what a terrible outcome. Not surprising considering the greed that exists in Kerry. "

"Jacquie & Neal I am soooooooooo disappointed with this news ( I know its very selfish of me) I was looking forward to a few trips to dingle this year and taking in a few dives, some of the best diving I did last year was with you in dingle. "
